Baseball Game Preview: United Christian Academy Eagles vs. Bethel Christian Kings

The United Christian Academy Eagles will square off against the Bethel Christian Kings at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when United Christian Academy and California Lutheran meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again two weeks ago. The Eagles came out on top against the C-Hawks by a score of 6-3.

Meanwhile, Bethel Christian waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rockets an 11-0 shutout. The Kings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

Elijah Scholl made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Bethel Christian's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Kaeden Milhouse was incredible, going 2-for-3 with six stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Jonah Thompson was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Bethel Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norton Science & Language Academy only posted an OBP of .208.

Bethel Christian pushed their record up to 8-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for United Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Everything went United Christian Academy's way against Bethel Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, as United Christian Academy made off with a 17-8 win.
