Independence came tearing into Monday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors as they made off with a 22-7 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-5 back in March.

Julieta Ramirez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kayla Shem and Joscelyn Santa Cruz did most of the damage at the plate: Shem scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Santa Cruz scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Santa Cruz has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Mackenzy Sauao was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Independence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive games.

Independence's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Yerba Buena, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will square off against Overfelt at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The 76ers are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Yerba Buena, they will take on Mt. Pleasant at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Aztec Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 13.9 runs per game this season.
