Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Moore Hornets vs. Dr. Phillips Panthers

The Bishop Moore Hornets will venture away from home to square off against the Dr. Phillips Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bishop Moore gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on West Boca Raton with a sharp 15-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Tony Castro looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Nate Davis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Lomas, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Bishop Moore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dr. Phillips, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Freedom by a score of 6-2 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Pyka, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Jace Jenniex, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Dr. Phillips' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Bishop Moore, their record now sits at 2-0.

Everything went Bishop Moore's way against Dr. Phillips when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Bishop Moore made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Moore since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
