Baseball Game Preview: Fleming Colonels vs. Roanoke Catholic Celtics

The Fleming Colonels will face off against the Roanoke Catholic Celtics at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fleming lost 20-3 to Lord Botetourt on Friday. The Colonels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fleming saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aronde Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI was Phillips' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Roanoke Catholic came up short against The Covenant two weeks ago, falling 29-3. The loss continues a trend for the Celtics in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.

Fleming's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Roanoke Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Fleming couldn't quite get it done against Roanoke Catholic when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 13-9. Can the Colonels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
