Softball Recap: Maine East's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Maine East came into Monday's contest having lost 14 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Northtown Pumas 16-7 on Monday. The Blue Demons' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last nine games.

Emma Asien was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Maine East got a massive performance out of Ellie Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs Miller has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Paulina Correa, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Maine East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Maine East's victory bumped their record up to 3-15. As for Northtown, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Maine East will square off against Glenbrook North at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Northtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
