Basketball Game Preview: Largo Packers vs. Tarpon Springs Spongers

Largo is on a six-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Tarpon Springs a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Thursday. The Largo Packers will welcome the Tarpon Springs Spongers at 7:45 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Largo took a blow against East Lake, falling 72-41. While losing is never fun, the Packers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 631st, while the Eagles are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, Tarpon Springs had to suffer through a 87-18 loss at the hands of Countryside.

Tarpon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Largo, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Largo strolled past Tarpon Springs in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 74-57. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Tarpon Springs' Geramyah Porter, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals.
