Basketball Recap: Mill Creek Piles Up the Points Against Monroe Area

Mill Creek won against Cherokee last Friday with 72 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Mill Creek Hawks blew past the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes, posting a 72-45 victory. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Purple Hurricanes are ranked 381st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mill Creek has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Monroe Area, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Mill Creek won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Jackson County at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Monroe Area, they will take on Cherokee Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
