Preview: Jeanerette Tigers vs. Covenant Christian Academy Lions
Jeanerette has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Covenant Christian Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covenant Christian Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Jeanerette, who comes in off a win.
After only eight points in their last matchup, Jeanerette made sure to put some points up on the board against Highland Baptist Christian on Friday. Jeanerette simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Highland Baptist Christian 42-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Jeanerette, who have now won three matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Covenant Christian Academy were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were beaten by Ascension Catholic 36-3. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Despite the loss, Covenant Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Connor Lally rushed for 144 yards. Lally was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.
Jeanerette's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Covenant Christian Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Everything went Jeanerette's way against Covenant Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Jeanerette made off with a 22-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jeanerette since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
