Soccer Recap: Mt. Whitney Takes a Loss

Mt. Whitney lost against Mission Oak back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mt. Whitney Pioneers fell just short of the Mission Oak Hawks by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Hawks are ranked 98th).

Mt. Whitney's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2-3. As for Mission Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1.

Mt. Whitney will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Firebaugh at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Mt. Whitney's last five contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Mission Oak also won't see the pitch for a while: their next matchup is against San Joaquin Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on December 30th. Mission Oak is facing San Joaquin Memorial at the right time seeing as San Joaquin Memorial is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
