Football Recap: Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] Takes a Loss

Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] dropped down to 3-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They had to suffer through a 55-21 loss at the hands of the Providence Day Chargers. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Chargers from their previous meeting back in September of 2023.

Even if they lost, Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy]'s defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Jackson Laws with two. Laws is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

As for Providence Day, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 41.3 points this season.

It was another big night for Zaid Lott, who threw for 204 yards and three TDs. Another player making a difference was Jack Criswell, who rushed for 71 yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] will face off against Charlotte Country Day School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Providence Day, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Christ School at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
