Volleyball Recap: Denver West Cowboys vs. Kennedy Commanders

Denver West was the 3-0 winner over Kennedy when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Denver West Cowboys fell just short of the Kennedy Commanders by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday.

Denver West actually scored more points across those five sets (107-102), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 16-25, 19-25, 27-25, 15-9.

Their offense was headlined by Andres DeLuna and Xzavier Espino, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Darien Palmon and his 15 assists. Abdi Musa controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennedy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevin Nguyen, who had 13 digs and three assists.

Denver West dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Kennedy, their record now sits at 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denver West will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hinkley at 6:00 p.m. on April 4th. As for Kennedy, they will take on George Washington on Friday.
