Northgate took a 31-point defeat the last time they faced off against Villa Rica, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings skirted past the Wildcats 12-9. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Vikings were the better team in the second half.

Ledger Clements threw for 151 yards on ten of 15 attempts. Treveon Gill was his top target, picking up 88 receiving yards. On the ground, Woody Schettini rushed for 54 yards.

Northgate has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Villa Rica, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Northgate will challenge Northside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Villa Rica, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
