Basketball Recap: Hyde Park Takes a Loss

Hyde Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lane Tech Champions.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lane Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Szafoni, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dalton Scantlebury, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points along with eight boards and four blocks.

Hyde Park's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Lane Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

Hyde Park will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Crane Medical at 5:00 p.m. on February 20th. Crane Medical will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Hyde Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lane Tech, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-52 win against Amundsen on the 31st.
