Basketball Recap: King's Academy Comes Up Short

If King's Academy was riding high fresh off their 90-25 takedown of Clayton-Bradley Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The King's Academy Lions fell to the Grace Christian Academy Rams 56-50. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rams this season, with their most recent defeat being a 67-47 loss back in January.

Despite the loss, King's Academy still got an impressive performance from Brady Branam, who went 8-for-9 en route to 21 points and eight boards. That's the most points Branam has posted since back in January of 2024. Skylar Walden was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists.

Even though they lost, King's Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

King's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Grace Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

King's Academy has already played their next contest, a 48-44 defeat against Providence Academy on the 15th. As for Grace Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-55 loss against Christian Academy of Knoxville on the 15th.
