Basketball Game Preview: Lordsburg Mavericks vs. Mescalero Apache Chiefs

The Lordsburg Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Mescalero Apache Chiefs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Lordsburg didn't have too much trouble with Cloudcroft as they won 55-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mavericks.

Meanwhile, Mescalero Apache waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 47-41 W against the Tigers.

Lordsburg pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points over those games. As for Mescalero Apache, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.

Lordsburg strolled past Mescalero Apache in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a score of 64-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lordsburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
