Softball Game Preview: Owego Free Academy River Hawks vs. Chenango Forks Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Owego Free Academy will face off against Chenango Forks. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Owego Free Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.

Owego Free Academy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Chenango Forks last Wednesday. The River Hawks blew past the Blue Devils 11-1. The River Hawks haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Carsten Crawford made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miley Laubach, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maia Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Chenango Forks' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Owego Free Academy, their record now sits at 7-1.
