Softball Recap: Berwick Comes Up Short

After flying high against Morgan City last Saturday, Berwick came back down to earth. The Berwick Panthers fell just short of the Riverside Academy Rebels by a score of 13-11 on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Kumari Nadar and Makinzie Macaluso stepped up to the plate in a big way. Nadar scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Macaluso scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Nadar is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Ann Marie Beadle was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Berwick's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Riverside Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Berwick will host Vermilion Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Riverside Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on St. Martin's Episcopal at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
