It's playoff time, and Carmel had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Santa Cruz Cardinals 7-0 on Saturday. Considering the Padres have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Matt Maxon, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Sean Carr was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Carmel's victory bumped their record up to 18-10. As for Santa Cruz, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-12.

As of now, neither Carmel nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
