Baseball Game Preview: Cowanesque Valley Indians vs. Southern Fulton Indians

Cowanesque Valley will square off against Southern Fulton on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cowanesque Valley comes in on three and Southern Fulton on seven.

Cowanesque Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Everything went their way against Mount Calvary Christian as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Dave Hess and Ayren Morgan made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hess pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Morgan didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hess has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hess went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Morgan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Loagan Stickler and William Kies did most of the damage at the plate: Stickler went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run, while Kies went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Stickler has posted since back in March. Hunter Simonds was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Cowanesque Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Southern Fulton had just enough and edged out Juniata Valley 4-3 on Monday.

Southern Fulton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Oakman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

Southern Fulton's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cowanesque Valley, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
