Lamar entered their tilt with Crowley County on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-44 victory over the Crowley County Chargers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Thunder have posted since December 16, 2023.

Lamar found their leader in sophomore Jacob Dunning, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cason Pollart, who posted eight points.

Lamar pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Crowley County, their loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-2.

Lamar and Crowley County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Lamar will face off against James Irwin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday up 277 places (42 vs. 319). Similarly, Crowley County (ranked 36th) will meet South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] (ranked 289th) at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
