Baseball Recap: Window Rock Takes a Loss

Window Rock was the 9-4 winner over Tuba City when they last played one another on Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Fighting Scouts fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 10-9 on Saturday.

Adriano Westbrook was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Window Rock's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 1-6 when he doesn't). Landyn Davis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5.

Window Rock has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Tuba City, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9.

Coincidentally, Window Rock and Tuba City will both be playing Chinle the next time they take the field. The Fighting Scouts will head out to face the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Warriors will host them at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th.
