Basketball Recap: White Knoll Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

White Knoll won the last time they faced Westwood and things went their way on Tuesday too. The White Knoll Timberwolves managed a 46-42 victory over the Westwood Redhawks. Given the Timberwolves' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Redhawks are ranked 107th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Emory Waters-Inman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Shaelyn Hayes was another key player, putting up six points.

White Knoll smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westwood only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Westwood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aneya Britt dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Britt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lyric Rogers, who posted six points.

The win got White Knoll back to even at 4-4. As for Westwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

White Knoll didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-21 victory against Gilbert on the 11th. As for Westwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-49 loss against Lakewood on the 11th.
