Baseball Game Preview: Bear Creek Bears vs. Conifer Lobos

The Bear Creek Bears will challenge the Conifer Lobos at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

Bear Creek and Galena faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Saturday. Bear Creek came up short against Galena, falling 22-1. The matchup marked the Bears' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Bear Creek saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Hegerle, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Hegerle has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Jamin Patterson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Conifer scored first but ultimately less than Summit in their contest on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 10-8.

Bear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Conifer, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bear Creek has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Conifer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Bear Creek's way against Conifer in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, as Bear Creek made off with a 16-4 victory. Will Bear Creek repeat their success, or does Conifer has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
