Softball Game Preview: Eldorado Eagles vs. Manzano Monarchs

The Eldorado Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Manzano Monarchs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Eldorado is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Eldorado duked it out with Volcano Vista on Wednesday. The Eagles fell 9-6 to the Hawks.

Ariana Notah made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Mya Gallegos was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Manzano had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Albuquerque Academy with a sharp 15-5 win on Thursday. The Monarchs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 30th (when they won 17-2).

Manzano got a massive performance out of Sophia Rios, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiara Laweka, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Manzano's victory bumped their record up to 4-19. As for Eldorado, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.

Eldorado got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Manzano by a conclusive 18-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
