Softball Recap: Sparta Takes a Loss

Sparta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hamilton Hawkeyes.

Taliya Dauser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Sparta saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jurnee Ross, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Sparta's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Hamilton, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Hawkeyes beat Sparta by a score of 12-8 later that day.
