It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Our Lady of Good Counsel can now relate to. They lost 8-0 to the St. Mary's Ryken Knights on Thursday. Considering the last time Our Lady of Good Counsel couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
For St. Mary's Ryken's part, not much got past Emmaleigh Zagrodnichek, who gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Our Lady of Good Counsel off the board. Zagrodnichek has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, St. Mary's Ryken got a big performance out of Myla Harding, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Gorczyca, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Our Lady of Good Counsel's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for St. Mary's Ryken, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1.
