Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2021 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.

Brady Allen of Gibson Southern (Fort Branch) is the 2021 MaxPreps Indiana High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-5, 215-pound quarterback led the Titans to a 14-1 record and a Class 3A championship with a 45-35 win over Brebeuf Jesuit (Indianapolis).

The Purdue commit completed 263-of-383 passes for 4,253 yards and 58 touchdowns for Gibson Southern, including 28 of 50 passes for 398 yards and five touchdowns in the state finals.

In four seasons with the Titans, Allen set state records for career completions (791), attempts (1,298) and touchdown passes (149). He also threw for 11,918 yards in his career. Allen was a member of the Indiana Football Coaches Association Top 50 all-state team as a junior.

Carson Steele of Center Grove (Greenwood) was the 2020 MaxPreps Indiana High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot, 200-pound senior running back ran for 1,659 yards and 31 touchdowns to lead the Trojans to a 14-0 record and Class 6A state title.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released in early January.
