Basketball Recap: Marion County Comes Up Short

Marion County and Brilliant squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Marion County had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Brilliant Tigers by a score of 46-43. The Red Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 56-48.

Leading Brilliant to victory were Macy Moore and Hadlee Sanderson. Moore went 6-for-11 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds, while Sanderson went 6-for-11 en route to 13 points in addition to seven assists and three blocks. Those seven assists gave Sanderson a new career-high. Aubrey Moye was another key player, putting up five points.

Marion County's defeat dropped their record down to 23-8. As for Brilliant, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Marion County nor Brilliant have any future games scheduled.
