Volleyball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Hesperia's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Hesperia unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-match winning streak on Monday. They lost 3-0 to the Oak Hills Bulldogs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hesperia was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17, 25-22.

Victoria Parra paced Hesperia's offense, picking up 18 kills. Parra got some help from Dylanna Akwaboah and her 28 assists. Akwaboah was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Hesperia's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 24-2. As for Oak Hills, the victory snapped their losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 9-19 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hesperia will square off against rival Sultana at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Oak Hills is set to face off against their familiar foe Apple Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
