Basketball Game Preview: Arcata Tigers vs. Redmond Mustangs

The Arcata Tigers and the Redmond Mustangs will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Friday, Arcata took a blow against Crater, falling 83-52. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 126th in California, while the Comets are ranked 25th in Oregon).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Redmond). They snuck past Marysville Getchell with an 88-83 win on Thursday. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Redmond's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Arcata, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Arcata might still be hurting after the 57-36 loss they got from Redmond in their previous meeting back in December of 2018. Can Arcata avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
