Basketball Game Preview: A.C. Reynolds Rockets vs. South Point Red Raiders

The A.C. Reynolds Rockets will square off against the South Point Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in A.C. Reynolds' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 23 games.

Last Saturday, A.C. Reynolds earned a 70-60 victory over McDowell. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Declan Brown was his usual excellent self, on his way to 28 points and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Dickey, who posted 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, South Point got the win against North Gaston last Friday by a conclusive 92-68. Given the Red Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 469th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Point found their leader in freshman OB Lowery Jr., who to rack up 39 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lowery Jr. has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Rumph, who en route to 15 points along with seven assists and seven boards.

A.C. Reynolds' victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for South Point, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: A.C. Reynolds has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like South Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27 boards.
