Softball Recap: South Garner Titans vs. Clayton Comets        
        
		
            
 South Garner was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight  defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a  tough 16-1 walloping at the hands of the Clayton Comets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to South Garner of the  11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in March.
  Allison Mayer was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 1-for-1 with two  stolen bases, a  double,  and  an  RBI.
 On Clayton's side,  Aliyah Gibson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out ten batters over  three innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits (and only one walk). Gibson was also big at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with two  runs, a  triple,  and two  RBI.
 In other batting news, Clayton let  Autumn Joyce and  Mallory Kuykendal loose on the outfield. Joyce  scored four  runs while going 3-for-4, while  Kuykendal  went 2-for-2 with three  RBI, a  triple,  and a  run.  Jenny Clement was another key contributor,  going 3-for-3 with  an  RBI.
 South Garner's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10-1. As for Clayton, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
 South Garner will head out on the road to  square off against  Willow Spring at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Willow Spring will roll in looking for their  seventh straight  victory, something South Garner surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clayton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Garner at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Both teams will come into the  game having just posted big wins, so someone is set to suffer a big change in fortunes.
