North Marion took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the West Port Wolf Pack as the North Marion Colts made off with an 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Wolf Pack: they've now won five in a row.
C.J. Sayler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Sayler was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Lucas Nichols looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Tucker Jones was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was John Collins, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
North Marion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Port only posted an OBP of .167.
West Port dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Marion will face off against Dunnellon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Port, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Lake Highland Prep at 6:00 p.m.
