Softball Recap: Pinckney Takes a Loss

Pinckney fell victim to Roosevelt and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Pirates' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Natally Pease spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pinckney saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Kubat, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Emma Fesl also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Pinckney's loss dropped their record down to 19-9-1. As for Roosevelt, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8.

Looking ahead, Pinckney will challenge Whiteford at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Roosevelt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Anderson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
