Basketball Recap: Valparaiso Takes Down Chesterton in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Valparaiso had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Chesterton Trojans by a score of 33-26 on Saturday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Lillian Barnes was her usual excellent self, putting up 17 points and six boards. Her evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chyanne Brown, who posted five points.

Despite the loss, Chesterton still got an impressive performance from Kenedi Bradley, who put up 12 points and four steals. That was a full 46.2% of Chesterton's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Valparaiso's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Chesterton, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.

Looking ahead, Valparaiso will square off against Hammond Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hammond Central will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Valparaiso surely won't give up without a fight. Chesterton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
