Baseball Recap: Miami Takes a Loss

Miami extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-14 in the process. They came up short against the Rejoice Christian Eagles, falling 14-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wardogs of the 11-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2019.

Miami saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase McCormick, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Rejoice Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-14 record this season. The result was nothing new for Rejoice Christian, who have now won 12 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Rejoice Christian's side, Micah Walker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Walker has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rejoice Christian got a massive performance out of Maverick Guinn, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Guinn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Callen Duncan, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miami will challenge Webb City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rejoice Christian, they will take on Catoosa at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
