Baseball Recap: Aspen Victorious

Aspen won the last time they faced Meeker and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Skiers came out on top against the Cowboys by a score of 9-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Skiers.

The team relied heavily on William Marolt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Aspen: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mickey Marolt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Aspen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Aspen's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Meeker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aspen will challenge Moffat County at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Skiers are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Meeker, they will take on Rangely at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
