Avery County proved they can win big last Friday (they won by five) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Mountain Heritage Cougars 2-1. The Vikings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Caitlin Shapiro was the driving force of Avery County's attack as she scored both of Avery County's goals, bringing her season total up to 11 goals.

Avery County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those five contests. Mountain Heritage's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 0-1-2 and their overall record down to 1-3-2.
