Meanwhile, West Elk played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Rose Hill and fell 84-15. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-5.

West Elk's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Humboldt, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-2.

Everything came up roses for Humboldt against West Elk in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 60-30 win. In that contest, the Cubs amassed a halftime lead of 42-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
