Recap: Georgetown G-Men vs. Williamsburg Wildcats
The Georgetown G-Men were the 37-31 winner over the Williamsburg Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Georgetown took a hard 52-36 fall against Williamsburg on Monday. While losing is never fun, Georgetown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 579th, while Williamsburg is ranked 284th).
Despite the loss, Georgetown saw an underclassman step up: Morgan Preston scored 17 points along with four blocks. Preston scored a full 47.2% of Georgetown's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Josie Mckibben, who scored nine points.
Georgetown has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Williamsburg, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Georgetown will square off against Clermont Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Williamsburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Manchester at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Manchester has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.
