After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matches, Sycamore finally came back down to earth on Monday. They fell just short of the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers by a score of 3-1. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Sycamore's loss dropped their record down to 20-3-1. As for LaSalle-Peru, the victory was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Sycamore will face off against rival Kaneland at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, LaSalle-Peru is set to challenge their familiar foe Ottawa at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cavaliers 3, the Pirates 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
