Softball Recap: Glendale Takes a Loss

Glendale had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 9-12-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Burroughs Bears, falling 16-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Nitros of the 14-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Glendale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jade Marquez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Fritzy Martinez was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Burroughs, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

On Burroughs' side, Kalani Miramontes made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Miramontes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alyssa Morales was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Haven Vickers, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glendale will take on Gabrielino at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.93 runs per game on average), something the Nitros will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Burroughs, they will challenge Crescenta Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
