The Brookfield Academy Blue Knights will venture away from home to take on the Catholic Central Hilltoppers at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
Brookfield Academy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering University School of Milwaukee just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. Blue Knights fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Wildcats since Tuesday.
While Brookfield Academy ultimately came up short, they really made University School of Milwaukee work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 13-25, 26-24, 25-15.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Catholic Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Lincoln Academy on Monday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Hilltoppers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since October 1, 2024 (when they won 3-0).
Catholic Central was especially dominant in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-18, 25-13.
Catholic Central found their leader in freshman Leah Kucera, who had six digs and six aces.
Catholic Central was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Brookfield Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Catholic Central, they moved to 4-21 with that win, which also ended their six-match losing streak.
Brookfield Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Catholic Central in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Blue Knights repeat their success, or do the Hilltoppers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
