Softball Recap: Tomball Memorial Comes Up Short

After flying high against Magnolia West last Tuesday, Tomball Memorial came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the Klein Bearkats by a score of 7-5 on Friday. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bearkats earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Tomball Memorial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Coombs, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another was Alaina Matusewitch, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Tomball Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10-1. As for Klein, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tomball Memorial will face off against Klein Oak at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Klein, they will take on Magnolia at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
