Softball Recap: Johnstown Takes a Loss

Fort Plain hit Johnstown with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Sir Bills fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 7-6. The Sir Bills have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maddy Kraemer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with five stolen bases and three runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Williams, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Johnstown's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Fort Plain, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Johnstown will square off against Schoharie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fort Plain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cobleskill-Richmondville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Hilltoppers surely won't give up without a fight.
