            Softball Recap: Myrtle Hawks vs. North Pontotoc Vikings        
        
		
        
        
            Myrtle has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.91  runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit  on Tuesday. They took  a  10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Pontotoc Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  12-11  two weeks ago.
 Ally Murphy was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She  pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
 In other batting news,  Mary Ella Mayer was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring a  run while going 2-for-5.  Shelby Thompson was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-4.
Myrtle's defeat  ended  a  seven-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 18-5. As for North Pontotoc, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record  this season.
 Myrtle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Pontotoc, they will square off against Louisville at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
