Softball Recap: Hayden's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Hayden had lost eight games straight , but after bumping their record up to 11-14 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the San Simon Longhorns with a sharp 28-9 win. The Lobos not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15th (when they won 33-3).

The team relied heavily on Yvana Waddell, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mianah Bravo, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Hayden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .960. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive matches.

As for San Simon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games.

On San Simon's side, Hollie Keil led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Bryleigh Sloan was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, Hayden will face off against Superior at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lobos will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. San Simon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
