Basketball Recap: Omaha North Takes a Loss

If Omaha North was riding high fresh off their 60-29 takedown of Buena Vista on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Omaha North Vikings came up short against the Omaha Westside Warriors on Saturday, falling 72-48. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, Omaha North still got an impressive performance from Milani Drake, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards. Drake continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Alaeya Randle was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Omaha Westside found their leader in freshman Himayajo Metoyer, who went 9 for 20 to rack up 22 points and five rebounds. Delaney Mcgrane also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Omaha North's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Omaha Westside, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6.

Coming up, Omaha North will host Millard North at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Millard North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season. As for Omaha Westside, they are taking a road trip to take on Lincoln Southeast at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha Westside also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 57.6 points per game.
