Recap: Somerset Christian Cougars vs. Heritage Christian Academy Warriors
The Somerset Christian Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They snuck past Heritage Christian Academy with a 81-76 victory. The victory was some much needed relief for Somerset Christian as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Despite the loss, Heritage Christian Academy had strong showings from Jason Leek, who scored 25 points along with eight assists, and Layton Giltner, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Giltner is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Bolinger, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Heritage Christian Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Somerset Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Heritage Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Oneida Baptist Institute the next time they take the court. Heritage Christian Academy will head out to face Oneida Baptist Institute at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Somerset Christian will head out to face them at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
