Baseball Recap: New Providence Takes a Loss

New Providence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pioneers have suffered against the Raiders since April 23, 2019.

Matthew Santacross made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

New Providence's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Scotch Plains-Fanwood, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

When New Providence and Scotch Plains-Fanwood next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Pioneers will face off against Governor Livingston and their three-game winning streak at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Scotch Plains-Fanwood will try to stop Union Catholic's three-game winning streak when they meet at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
